Frequently asked questions
Why did you choose White Lion Park?
We worked with Malmesbury Town Council to review the location based on key factors: ample space, distance from residential areas, flood resilience, and easy access
What will be done about parking?
Many users will arrive on foot, bike, or public transport, supporting our commitment to sustainable travel. However, we're open to exploring parking solutions or adjusting based on usage as needed.
How will you prevent anti-social behaviour?
A youth liaison in our trustee group will engage directly with young people to foster ownership and respect. We’re partnering with local schools, youth organizations, and skateboarding/BMX groups to encourage responsible use.Clear rules will be enforced with local authorities' support, and volunteers will help maintain a safe environment.
How will you manage noise and activity during evening hours?
We plan to manage noise and activity during evening hours by installing timed lighting, which will signal when the park is closing and encourage users to leave. Additionally, the skatepark's design and location have been carefully chosen to minimize noise impact on nearby residents. If needed, we will work with local authorities to monitor the area and ensure quiet, respectful use of the space during late hours.
Will the skatepark have lighting?
Yes, we plan to install timed lighting to discourage late-night gatherings, signalling when it's time to leave.
How will the park impact local wildlife or green spaces?
We are committed to minimizing the skatepark's impact on wildlife and green spaces. Environmental assessments will be conducted to ensure the site doesn’t disrupt sensitive habitats. The design will preserve green space and include landscaping that supports biodiversity, with ongoing monitoring to ensure minimal ecological impact.
Will there be any opportunities for local youth to participate in the design or maintenance of the skatepark?
Absolutely, and we’ll be actively encouraging it. This is a community-driven project, and we want the community involved in both the design and fundraising efforts to foster a stronger sense of ownership and respect.
Will any local taxes or community funds be used to build or maintain the park?
The park will be funded through a combination of grants, fundraising efforts, and private donations. We are also exploring opportunities for sponsorships to cover maintenance costs, ensuring no additional burden on community funds.
